6 Fun Fall Activities to Stay Healthy in the Chilly Weather!

Fall; the perfect season to exercise without feeling too hot from the sun, stepping on the snow in the winter or splashing in a puddle of mud in the spring. This is the perfect opportunity for you to feel great and look great as you take that fresh autumn walk, stepping on the crispy leaves as you enjoy the beautiful fall scenery around you! Do you want to step away from the online world and experience the most colourful season of the year, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle? If so, I will be showing you a list of 6 simple and fun exercising activities you can do to keep your heart rate up!

1. Bike/Jog around your local park or neighbourhood

A simple exercise you can do is to bike and jog around your local park or neighbourhood! This activity is great to do with family or friends, to spend a nice day exploring around places you have never taken notice of! Stepping outside during the autumn season is a perfect time to notice the beautiful red, yellow and orange colours all over the ground and trees around you. Not only is biking or jogging an excellent way to build muscle and burn off a couple of calories, but it would also allow you to step away from the ‘online world’ even if it is just for an hour or two.

2. Orchard Picking

Who can forget about apple picking? Visiting a nearby Orchard to pick out dozens of healthy fruit is an amazing way to choose a unique place to bond with an old buddy of yours! Believe it or not, but there are a variety of different apples you can pick to your liking, from Gala apples to Granny Smiths! Each type is good for different uses, such as to make an apple pie or to just eat it plain! Although some people may mention that apple picking seems a bit tedious to do, it is certainly an activity that doesn’t come around very often and beats just purchasing a hundred apples at your local Costco. Take that to your advantage and visit an orchard of your own to keep you and whoever you bring up on your feet!

3. Visit a corn maze

Along with apple picking, you will not want to miss the chance to attend Ontario’s largest corn maze, Cooper’s CSA Farm and Maze with a massive 10 acres of corn to walk through. Grab a friend and a map to the maze you are walking into, you’ll have a blast trying to find a way to the finish line. I recommend you visit the maze before heading to the orchard field, Or you may be holding those apples for quite some time! Corn mazes typically take around 2 hours to complete, so make sure you are able to fit this fun activity in your schedule. Time will fly by for you to find the maze’s exit, and before you know it you will have walked nearly enough for your legs to feel the burn once you get home!

4. Join a group dance event

Dance, dance, dance! Want to let loose and dance with others but don’t know where or how? In the fall season, there are various dancing events you can take upon, such as the Fall for Dance North Festival in Toronto. This dancing event will not only show you multiple styles of dance but teach you as well! The benefits of dancing include an improved condition of your heart and lungs, increases endurance and so much more! So what are you waiting for, grab a partner and join one of Ontario’s many dancing festivals!

5. Outdoor Rock Climbing

Feeling adventurous? Want to take on something new and exciting? If so, rock climbing is the one for you! If you’re worried about falling and is not quite sure how to rock climb, no worries, you can always start slow with an instructor by your side to be safe. This activity can without question raise your heart rate and build muscle and endurance. Rock climbing has also been told that it reduces stress, and teaches valuable life lessons, so there’s no time to lose, put on your helmet and start climbing!

6. Take a Camping trip

Have you ever hung out with your friends and thought “Hey, what if we all went camping one day?”. Well, fall is the perfect season to bring out that unused tent stuffed in your attic and go on a camping trip with your friends. Camping in the autumn is great, since the weather is cool enough for insects and animals to not come out, but not too cold that a sweater and wind jacket can’t handle! Camping is great for your physical and mental health since it gives you a better chance to head out and experience the nature around you. The activities that come with camping can include hiking, kayaking, swimming etc. This is a great way to improve your overall mood, and can certainly engage your body muscles to make you feel healthier.
