Foods That Cause Inflammation

Inflammation can occur for a number of different reasons, a few of them are: high cooking temperatures while preparing food, eating processed foods, or consuming large amounts of sugars and fats. High levels of inflammation within the body can cause many health problems. Your diet may very well be the cause of your inflammation. There is only one way to find out. If you are eating the foods listed below, you may want to consider cutting them out of your diet, because they may very well be the culprit behind your inflammation.

Sugar

Sugar is contained in almost everything we consume, and is often hidden in foods you wouldn’t even expect it to be. Try and limit processed foods, desserts and snacks with excess sugar.

Trans Fats

Trans fats do not have any positive benefits to offer your body or your overall health. They increase bad cholesterol, promote inflammation, obesity and resistance to insulin. Trans fats are found in fried foods, fast foods, and commercially baked goods, such as peanut butter and items prepared with partially hydrogenated oil, margarine and vegetable oil.

White Flours and Rice

Try and replace white with brown. White flours and rice do not offer the same benefits, as less processed grains, such as brown rice or whole wheat toast.

Dairy

While greek yogurt is acceptable, dairy is hard on the body. Milk is a common allergen that can trigger inflammation, stomach problems, skin rashes, hives and even breathing difficulties. It is better to just cut dairy out of your diet period, it is not necessary for good health.

Artificial Food Additives

MSG and Aspartame are two common food additives that can trigger inflammatory responses. Try and omit all artificial food additives completely from your diet.

Feedlot-Raised Meat

Animals who are fed with grains like soy and corn contain, often store nutrients which have high inflammation. Always choose organic, free-range meats which have been fed natural diets.

Alcohol

Regular consumption of alcohol causes irritation and inflammation to numerous organs. Reduce your consumption of alcohol, and switch from hard liquor to wine or beer.

Many Cooking Oils

Soy, safflower, sunflower, corn, and cottonseed oil are the main causes of inflammation and are made with cheaper, less quality ingredients. Instead chose olive oil, coconut oil, or grapeseed oil.

Red and Processed Meats

Red meat contains a molecule that humans don’t naturally produce called Neu5GC. Once you ingest this compound, your body develops antibodies which may trigger constant inflammatory responses. Reduce red meat consumption to once a week at most.
