Vitamins That Stimulate Hair Growth

Thinning and balding are common issues that many people face, especially as age becomes a factor. Many people seek ways to help reduce, or stop hair loss and turn to expensive hair treatments or systems – but often overlook vitamins! There are a number of ways to incorporate certain nutrients and vitamins into your diet that can help hair grow back.

Learn about some of the essential vitamins you should be making sure you get enough of to help with hair loss dilemmas;

Vitamin B

All eight B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12) play a large role in keeping us healthy. A lack of vitamin B is sometimes the cause of hair loss or baldness.

Vitamin B plays a crucial role in hair growth as it contains B3 niacin. Niacin helps to nourish the scalp and promote healthy hair growth. Without adequate amounts of niacin, your hair stands the chance of becoming brittle, lifeless, and might even fall out.

Research has shown that men who consume foods rich in vitamin B are less likely to experience hair loss. Not only is it an essential vitamin in our daily diet, it also enriches the quality and thickness of hair.  Take a B complex daily to ensure you are getting an adequate amount.

Biotin

If you want healthier hair then don’t forget about Biotin. Biotin is a popularly used supplement for faster hair growth. While biotin is a B vitamin it plays such a key role in keeping hair healthy that it needed its own bullet. Biotin or B7 helps produce glucose and break down proteins into amino acids. Since hair itself contains keratin, a form of protein, this supports healthy hair.

While most people do get enough Biotin from the foods they throughout the day, it is a water soluble vitamin which means your body can’t retain it and flushes away what it doesn’t use. You  need to get enough of it each day or you’ll run a deficit.

Many hair products now contain Biotin as an ingredient. However, that doesn’t mean you should stop in-taking biotin rich foods or supplements. Keep up a combination of both an internal and external supply as it seems to work best. Foods containing biotin include mushrooms, eggs, avocados, salmon and more.

Vitamin A

Helps to produce sebum (oils) on the scalp, which helps to prevents hair from drying out or breaking. Foods that are rich in vitamin A include carrots, melons, and dark leafy greens. Vitamin A can also be obtained in foods with fatty acids such as flaxseed oil, primrose, and salmon oil.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that repairs and builds tissue, which is essential for healthy hair growth. When you apply vitamin E onto your scalp, it helps to reduce inflammation while it increases blood circulation, boosts oxygen supply, and repairs any damaged hair follicles. Massage vitamin E oil into your hair and scalp at least twice/week to promote hair growth.

If you plan on taking supplements be sure to consult a doctor or specialist to get the best solution for your situation. You’ll be able to learn the correct dosages, as well as any additional things you need to know to ensure your safety in taking supplements to promote hair growth.
