What to Know About Candida Cleanses

What is Candida?

There are many different cleanses available; there are cleanses for your liver, for your kidney, for your gallbladder, and more. There is a cleanse for your colon known as a Candida cleanse. Candida is a type of yeast that results in a fungal infection, most often found in your digestional tract and mouth that affects many areas of the body, particularly the immune system. When you have a Candida infection, your body’s pH balance is thrown off balance, and can lead to more serious problems. You are most likely to get a Candida infection from an already weakened immune system, diabetes, some cancer treatments (chemotherapy and radiation can kill off some of the healthy bacteria that fights Candida), oral corticosteroids (asthma inhalers), some antibiotics, and birth control pills.

Signs of a Candida Infection

While not always easy to spot, there are a few common signs of a Candida infection to look out for:

  • Weak immune system
  • Exhaustion
  • Horomone inbalance
  • Digestive problems (gas and bloating)
  • White coat on tongue
  • Joint pains

The best way to determine if you have a Candida infection or not is to talk to your doctor.

How to Treat Candida Infections with a Cleanse

As long as your immune system is healthy, Candida infections are rarely serious, but you still want to treat it as soon as you can. One common way to treat Candida is with a juice cleanse. The point of a Candida cleanse is to kill as much of the yeast as possible. Cleansing helps by getting rid of the Candida, and then prepares your intestines for the low-sugar diet, probiotics and antifungals that will form the rest of your treatment.

When undergoing a Candida cleanse, it is best to avoid consuming food and beverages with a lot of caffeine and sugar in them, as these can clog your digestive tract and have many additives and toxins in them that will make the cleanse less effective. While on the cleanse, you should eat only raw or steamed vegetables; avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, squash, and yams.

For Candida juice cleanses, it is important to not include ingredients that have a lot of natural sugar in them, as this won’t help eliminate the bacteria. Ingredients that work great for clearing up Candida include:

  • Cucumber
  • Parsley
  • Lime
  • Ginger
  • Green tea
  • Cabbage
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Broccoli
  • Garlic clove
  • Avocado
  • Spinach
  • Celery

All of these foods are high in vitamins and fiber, but low in sugar, making them great for clearing your digestive tract. The best way to do a Candida cleanse is over three days. You should eat mainly raw vegetables over this time, and a couple days after to ensure all bacteria is cleared.
