Modern Ways to Achieve the Perfect Smile

Everyone wants an amazing smile; an amazing smile requires whiter and brighter teeth. As teeth become discoloured due to coffee, tea, smoking, and time, people are willing to spend more money on whitening procedures to achieve a brilliant smile. These modern methods can even reach stains below the surface due to tiny cracks on the teeth or certain antibiotics that absorb stains. So what are these modern procedures and how are they done? Keep reading to find out.

Bleaching

This is the most common form of teeth whitening. This process is done by placing a gel or rubber on your gums to protect them from the bleach. The whitening product is applied onto your teeth using a special tray which takes the shape of your mouth, similar to a gum shell.

The chemicals in the whitening products contain carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. When these compounds break down, oxygen is released and enters your enamel making your teeth brighter. This process usually takes 3-4 weeks to complete. On your first visit, the dentist will create a mouth guard and take a caricature of it.

It’s recommended that the treatment to be continued at home where you regularly apply the product for 30 minutes at a time. Results can begin to show in as little time as a week.

Laser Whitening

Similar to bleaching, rubber guard is used to shield the gums, and a whitening product is pasted on top of your teeth. Then a light is used to catalyze the process to achieve the teeth whitening faster. You can get teeth up to six shades lighter! The procedure usually takes an hour to complete and can last up to three years. Dentists recommend not smoking, eating, or drinking things that can re-stain teeth. Side effects from the procedure can include sensitivity to the cold, however, though these symptoms usually vanish.

Bleaching and laser whitening are two of the most common and effective methods to whiten teeth. Be sure to consult your dentists to see which method is the right choice for you. Despite how expensive they are, they are effective, work quickly, and last for long periods of time. After getting your teeth whitened, you’ll be eager to show off your perfect smile.
